FAQs for Europe Motorhome Hire

DRIVING LICENCE

Do I need a special driver’s licence?

Driver(s) must have held a full, valid driving licence for at least 24 months that entitles them to drive a European category B vehicle up to 3500kg GMVW. If the driving licence is not in English or the language of the depot, then an international driving licence is required. All drivers need to be present at the time of collection and must bring all parts of their driving licence with them as well as a valid passport or identity card. Please see our terms and conditions for full details.

How old do I have to be to drive an Apollo Motorhome in Europe?

Drivers must be 21 years of age or over to drive an Apollo vehicle in Europe.

VEHICLES

Can I hire for less than the minimum rental duration?

Yes, on request, but guests will be required to pay the full amount for the minimum hire period.

Will my vehicle be automatic or manual transmission?

All Apollo vehicles in Europe are manual transmission.
ON THE ROAD

Can vehicles be taken on the ferry?

Yes, all vehicles can and are insured to be taken on ferries. To avoid problems due to possible upgrades, we recommend that guests book the ferry for a minimum length of 7.10m.

Where can guests stay at night?

Please note that Europe has restrictions on wild camping.  We strongly recommend that guests stay at a campground, holiday park or RV/Caravan Park. RV/Caravan Parks offer excellent recreational opportunities and facilities. Powered sites enable you to connect your vehicle to electricity and charge the battery. We provide local camping information to guests at check-in to help assist with their motorhome holiday.

PETS

Are dogs allowed in the vehicle?

We are happy for you to bring a pet dog on vacation in our Motorhome for a fee of €50. A maximum of 2 dogs are permitted. Please be advised that should additional pet cleaning be required at drop off, additional cleaning charges will apply.

BIKES

Can I bring my bike?

Yes, all Apollo Europe vehicles come fitted with bike racks that hold 2 bikes. The Family Voyager holds 3 bikes. Max 50kg.

PICK UP PROCESS

Do all drivers have to be in the branch at pick up?

All drivers are required to show their Driver Licence to the branch in person prior to driving the vehicle. At pick up is preferred, however guests may visit the branch prior to pick up to show their Driver Licence if they are unable to be there on the day.

How long does it take to pick up or return a vehicle?

The time involved can vary but guests should allow 1-2 hours for collection and 1 hour to return a vehicle. During busy periods this can take longer. This is an important time to become familiar with the vehicle and includes a fully comprehensive demonstration on how to use all of the facilities so that everyone can make the most of their motorhome holiday.

What if my arrival flight is delayed?

Guests should contact their rental depot as soon as possible if their arrival is delayed. If we can still accommodate the hire on the same day, we will aim to do so, however, if the flight arrives after depot hours, the guest will need to arrange pick-up for the next day.

BRANCH INFORMATION

How do I get to the depot?

For guest convenience, all of our depots are located within a 15-30 minute transfer from the local airport. Guests may wish to take a taxi or public transport.

What are the opening hours for the branch?

In Europe, Apollo branches are open 6 days a week - Monday - Saturday from 09:00 - 17:00, except on closed days as outlined on each branch page .
